Registrar Q & A
  1. Why do I need to provide a photo each year with registration if my child is U9 or older?
  2. I filled out Mechanicsburg’s online registration and now I am being asked to fill out an RG6 form.  It is almost the same information.  Why am I being asked for both?
  3. My child has been playing in Mechanicsburg Soccer since they were 5.  Why do I need to turn in a copy of a birth certificate or passport now that they will be on a U9 team?
  4. Why am I being told a team is full?
  5. Why is registration for fall soccer before the spring soccer season has even started?
  6. Why am I being given deadlines for turning in an RG6, photo and copy of a birth certificate?
  7. I did not register for spring in Mechanicsburg Soccer.  Why am I being asked to do paperwork to say that my child is not playing?
  1. The photo is used on the player pass.  Player passes are good from August 1 through July 31 of the following year.  The coach or parent manager carries the player passes.  Referees or opposing coaches can check player passes before games.  Player passes are required for play in leagues and tournaments.

  2. Mechanicsburg has teams playing in CPYSL (Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League) and PAGS (Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer).  Each league requires hard copy RG6 forms to be kept on file with the leagues unless your club uses the registration system authorized by Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League.  Mechanicsburg does not use this system, so hard copy RG6 forms are required so that they can be turned into one of the two leagues.

  3. Both leagues Mechanicsburg plays in verify the child’s birthday which the registrar enters into the system.  This requires the registrar to make an appointment with the league and bring in the copies of the birth certificates so the league can verify it matches what is in the system.  The name is also verified against what was is in the system.  This insures that teams are not cheating by playing older players on younger teams.  Parents also enter the wrong birthdays in around 5% of the online registrations and RG6 forms.

  4. The leagues Mechanicsburg Soccer Club plays in follow Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League’s rules which are set by US Youth Soccer which is a national organization.  These rules call for a maximum number of players on a team.  U9 through U11 teams can have a maximum of 14 players.  U12 through U15 teams can have a maximum of 18 players.  There is the potential for U12 to be switched to a maximum of 14 players.  U16 through U19 teams can have a maximum of 22 players but only 18 can play in a game.

  5. The registration dates are based on when rosters are due to leagues.  CPYSL and PAGS both require teams to be entered into their leagues in June for fall soccer.  Based on a June date, registration is set so that tryouts can be held and teams formed in time to enter teams into the leagues.

  6. Rosters along with proof of birth, RG6’s and player passes are due to the leagues in June to get passes in August to play in an August tournament.  For teams just playing in the league, the paperwork must be turned into the league in July.

  7. Rosters run from July 31 to August 1 of the next year.  For a league to remove a player from a roster they require paperwork/confirmation from the parents that the child is not playing.  They do not take the word of the Mechanicsburg Registration System.  You are being asked to do the paperwork since you did not register your child.  This will allow the league to remove your child from the roster and place a registered spring player on the roster.  The paperwork for player removal is a national rule set by US Youth Soccer.  This provides the child protection from a club arbitrarily deciding not to let a child play on a team anymore.
